Hunter’s Guide
Everything around the hunt itself: getting here, bringing a rifle, getting your trophies home. Rules come from the official sources listed on each guide.
Getting to Okangawa
You fly into Hosea Kutako International Airport near Windhoek. Most visitors from Europe and North America now need a visa, which you can apply for online before you travel.
Travelling with your rifle
You can bring your own hunting rifle. It needs a temporary import permit from the Namibian Police, issued when you arrive, and your airline and any transit country have their own rules.
Rent a rifle or bring your own?
Rifle rental with ammunition is available at Okangawa. The price is on request. Many hunters still prefer their own rifle; here are the trade-offs.
Trophies: export and shipping home
Skinning, field preparation and delivery of your trophies to a taxidermist in Namibia are included in the daily rate. From there, export permits, your home country’s import rules and shipping decide the rest.
The best time to hunt
We hunt from 1 February to 30 November. Each part of the season has its own character; there is no bad time, only different conditions.
What to pack
Laundry is included in the daily rate, so you can pack light. Focus on good boots, quiet clothes in muted colours and layers for cold mornings.
