Our story
Family-owned since the 1940s
The family farms have been in our family since the 1940s. Andries Pretorius served in the Second World War in Egypt and Italy, and came home to Namibia having lost a leg to a landmine. With his wife Zaidee, who joined him from Somerset West in South Africa, he built the farms up for beef cattle.
His son Peter Pretorius took over and grew the cattle business. In 2002 Andries’s daughter Margaret, born and raised on the home farm Thorn Trees, and her husband Ian Campbell joined the family business.
In 2012 Andrew and Anneke Campbell returned from South Africa and Okangawa Farming Partnership was formed. Hunting grew alongside the cattle, and in 2016 Okangawa Farming & Hunting Safaris was registered as a hunting business. Andrew, a registered Professional Hunter, has been guiding since 2019.

How we work
“For us it is less about being successful and more about how we achieve our success.”
“Our goal has been, and will continue to be to provide a quality hunting experience in a private and natural environment while offering personal service that is friendly and professional.” — Andrew Campbell
Game is counted every season. Management animals are selected off the quota set from that count.
