Flights
Fly into Hosea Kutako International Airport (HKIA) near Windhoek. If you bring your own rifle, choose your route and airline with that in mind: see our guide to travelling with firearms.
Visa
Since 1 April 2025, visitors from many countries need a visa for Namibia, including the United States, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the Nordic countries and most of the EU. For these nationalities it is a visa on arrival: you can apply online in advance on the Namibian government’s portal, or at the airport when you land.
The UK Foreign Office gives the fee as NAD 1,600 for travellers over 11 years old. The German Foreign Office says the visa is usually valid for 90 days and multiple entries. Applying online before you fly saves time at the airport.
Passport and health
Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your trip and have at least three blank pages. If you arrive from a country with a risk of yellow fever, you need a yellow fever vaccination certificate. Children travelling need extra documents, such as a birth certificate; check the rules before you book their flights.
